staring up at the sky searching for constellations in the stars
i still remember the first time i saw one
driving back from my grandparents’ house as a kid
i drew it right when i got home
neck stiff from staring through the window
its funny the things we remember
like the fallen tree in my backyard my sister and i used to climb
pretend that it was an airplane that carried us up through the sky
its still there - but its limbs are all rotting, they’re fading into soil
i still remember what it used to look like way back then.
